One Cabot Road

The renovation of this building's cavernous lobby and amenities helped create a more useful and welcoming space.

The Davis Companies engaged Margulies Perruzzi Architects to revitalize 176,000 SF of core amenities – lobby, Café/Lounge and the adjoining outdoor courtyard, fitness center, as well as the elevator lobbies in this five-story, 300,000+ SF Class A office building constructed in 1989.

A dramatically backlit glass feature wall drapes behind a wood and metal trimmed reception / security desk; shields the elevator lobbies; and defines seating areas. Product selection was key to create the backlit glass wrapping behind and above the reception desk. A ceiling installation had not been attempted before with the product and required a commitment by the manufacturer to create a custom support system to fulfill the design intent.

The elevator doors and frames have been reclad and the exteriors feature back-painted glass and wood. Interior flooring color coordinates with the exterior pavers to create a cohesive transition from exterior to interior. New exterior signage, bollards, lighting, paving, tiered planters, signage, and visitor parking grace the revamped entry.

The renovated Café/Lounge features new flooring, accent walls, upgraded finishes to all islands and counters, and new energy efficient lighting, but re-uses the existing furniture.
